The author, Caroline Butler Cauldwell, is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Speech. She was a speech therapist for the Beloit Public Schools, Beloit Wisconsin, and taught speech and drama in the Senior High School of Oskaloosa, Iowa. She is now a resident of Washington Island, Wisconsin.
